Manx Sailing and Cruising Club celebrated the launch of a new patrol boat in Ramsey last Sunday.
The RIB, delivered from Welwyn Garden City the previous day, has been donated by Dr May Shiu Chan in memory of her late husband, Neil Corlett. The event was an opportunity to remember Neil’s hard work as a safety boat volunteer.
His family were present, as well as club members, and Neil would have approved of the modern four-stroke engine, since he did not enjoy the vagaries of the old two-stroke.
Reverend David Greenwood kindly said a few words of blessing, hoping all who crewed the RIB, and those wet clients it will help in the future, safe and happy sailing.
The RIB was then launched with May at the helm, and Emily Kee, Neil’s niece, also volunteering to patrol the dinghy race, which turned out to be a calm affair.
